Resume

Here’s a little more about me

In 2020, I was at the frontline of reporting for Berrien County, in Southwest Michigan, during the Covid-19 pandemic. This was the only place I would have wanted to be - speaking to the decision makers and community members on the ground, impacted by every decision.

In 2021, I entered the research communications space. I work on evolving communications strategy, craft stories, create and manage social media content and accounts, and manage websites for researchers funded by federal and private grants.

Much of my work is currently focused on serving three research centers based at the University of Notre Dame. Working at Notre Dame adds another institution to my list of being involved in Indiana's incredible higher education offerings. I completed my B.A. in Communication Studies at Indiana University, focusing in journalism and minoring in photojournalism, and obtained my M.S. in Communications at Purdue University, focusing on Strategic Leadership Communication and Management and Leadership Communication.

My past work has been featured in: the Niles Daily Star, Michiana Life Magazine, Horizons Magazine (via Leader Publications), Edible Michiana, NDWorks, Pan-O-Ply Michiana, and The Goshen News, including The hArt and Progress magazine. Early in my career, I was published in Michiana SASSY, VerilyMag and P.S. I Love You on Medium. I have added copyediting articles for Exotica Moderne and Reverb International to my list of creative endeavors - blending my love for vintage kitsch and tiki cocktails with my passion for writing.

During my internship days, I was given the freedom to write blog articles finding parallels between Star Trek and the early artificial intelligence products. Writing can be fun, right?

Fun Extras

As a Jill of multiple trades, I spent a decade as a makeup artist and a licensed esthetician, specializing in body waxing, wedding makeup, and rejuvenating facials. I received my training from the Salon Professional Academy in Kokomo (now the Summit Salon Academy), the International Dermal Institute, as well as the Douglas Frederic Aveda Institute in Chicago.

Typewriters are a part of my brand because they are a part of me. I collect manual and electronic typewriters, and include them in my writing process - both personal and professional. There's just something different about the *thwack* of a type bar arm striking the paper that invokes a different feeling.

When I’m not working, you can find me: in an antique store searching for midcentury treasures, an Italian restaurant trying to find the best Sunday sauce, in a coffee shop with a coffee and a scone, on my Honda Rebel on an adventure, with an extra dirty (gin) martini, laughing with friends and my fiance, or catching up on my latest book or podcast.
